I visited the Newcastle upon Tyne Nice 'n' Naughty store for the first time recently and found the customer service to be second to none.

While looking at the product I was interested in, I was approached by a very friendly sales lady, who offered me advice and showed me the alternatives available in such a professional and friendly manner. She attempted to upsell a more expensive product but certainly not in a pushy way, only explaining the benefits over the product I had chosen.

A definite recommendation for this store.

It has a fair selection but the dvds are outnumbered by the videos. Prices are 30 quid for vids and 35 for dvds. They have an exchange service.

Also a small selection of magazines (about £4.99) and Taschen books. Smallish selection of toys offered.

Friendly atmosphere not at all sleazy or pushy.

There are various lines in lingerie, PVC and rubber outfits and a range of novelty adult gifts which would be popular for hen and stag nights. As you move further into the shop the shelves stock multiple condoms and lubricants as well as sex toys.

Right at the back are the magazines and DVDs.

  News June 2007: Northern Ireland's First

Northern Ireland's first legally operated sex shop has opened on the outskirts of Belfast.

Newtownabbey Council has granted a licence for the business, which is based in a Central Park industrial estate in Mallusk.

Owner David Christie said: There were some councillors who had issue with the application. But I must applaud the council for making what is a brave decision, given all the hype and attention that has been focused around licence applications that have been made in the country.

  News January 2016: Calls for banishment

Labour councillor and feminist called for sex shops and a table dancing club on Wellingborough Road to be banished from the town centre. Thankfully the council did not take heed of the call.

Having recently visited the shop in Northampton I was pleased at the bright interior and layout.

The manager Lisa left me to myself when browsing which I was happy with and I was impressed by the selection of DVDs available.

Downstairs has a good selection of DVDs and a good number of magazine titles as well as the range from we-vibe, whilst upstairs is a slightly limited range of vibrators, strap-ons, bondage equipment and fetish outfits. It's a small space up there, they fill it quite well.

I asked Lisa if she could order a couple of titles they didn't have and she looked into it and found she could. The DVDs arrived a couple of days later and were included in the three for £50 deal they have on. They have started offering 7 DVDs for a hundred and are doing a loyalty card along the lines of buy ten at full price, get one free. Two stamps for fifty pounds and so on...

All in all the shop is well laid out, the manager is very helpful and the shop well located.

As with all sex shops across Northampton, Simply Pleasure in Wellingborough Road currently has a blanked-out front window.

But the Dorset-based firm applied to Northampton Borough Council for permission to show off lingerie and “club wear” in its window and, despite concerns, the authority’s licensing committee this week approved the plans.

Well lit, tidy ‘high quality' shop.  Good range of DVDs and other stuff – very good for DVDs in fact except for the prices which are very steep compared to London - £35 for DVD, £30 for video.  Perhaps others negotiate but I decided to get the same DVDs next time I am in London for £20 each....

Worth a visit though, but it is near the centre of Norwich near a busy street, so not for the shy. Didn't see any  R18 videos or DVD's. Bit of an Ann Summers sort of shop and not at all seedy. Worth a visit if in Norwich.

The Adult Gift Shop was a fully licensed sex shop that used to be based in the Hockley area of Nottingham, UK, but then moved closer into the city centre. Unfortunately, due to the council increasing our licence renewal fee to a massive £11,100 we were forced to close the store. The store is still trading online.

The owners of Delta Love said they had bought in some new items on the back of Fifty Shades of Grey but had sold about a dozen. One owner explained: 50 Shades of Grey didn't give us such a big boost. It was really for about a week and then it went back to normal.

They were speaking after a licence to run the shop was renewed by Nottingham City Council.
