It was our view that even if this material isn’t corrupting underage viewers, current social attitudes dictate that this kind of sexual violence is unacceptable. "American Gothic" is an unusual horror thriller in the simple way that it is character-driven - it doesn't care about suspense and does NOT go overboard in the gore department - although it lapses into Body Count Movie cliches.

It also depends on the victims behaving much more stupidly than you would expect real people to (then again, that's commonplace in slasher films). It's a pretty dumb movie but also dumb enough to be mildly entertaining (although I must stress the word MILDLY).

Rod Steiger as usual is given an opportunity to go wildly over the top, and Yvonne DeCarlo, a.k.a. Lily Munster, is on hand as his wife. These two veterans tend to act rings around their younger co-stars.

I have always preferred Al Adamson's action epics to his schlock monster pics (though I love both genres). Satan's Sadists is Adamson at his prime in the action field and who could top that? That's why Angels' Wild Women comes as such a disappointment.

The storyline is simple: while the Angels are away, their women play. Well, sort of. The most they do is assault a farmhand before falling into the clutches of a religious cult. Adamson regulars Regina Carrol and Vicki Volante play two of the biker women, Margot and Terry.

Much of the movie is dedicated to footage of the Angels getting into brawls, having drinking competitions, and necking with their women. So, despite the provocative title that promises a lot of fun viewing, the movie doesn't really spend a lot of time with the titular women.

The amazing poster for this film delivers a lot more than the film does. For Adamson fanatics only.

Cult star Christina Lindberg stars as Anita, a 16-year-old girl (played by a 22-year-old) who has to have sex and it doesn't matter with who. She picks up lawyers, junkies, little boys, drunks or even the homeless. Her sexual behavior gets her kicked out of towns but one day she meets a doctor who thinks he can help her.

This Swedish picture is rather strange because it's certainly a sexploitation title and the main goal is for the beautiful Lindberg to get naked every chance she gets but the overall tone of the movie is so serious that it's hard to have fun with the film.

The story is pretty straight forward, which means it gets pretty boring as it rarely goes over the top outside of a 16-year-old wanting any guy she can get. As for Lindberg, she certainly deserves her cult status. She's certainly easy on the eyes but unlike a lot of erotic stars, she can also act and she brings a lot life to her character.

One of the cuts seems to be in the scene where Jacky Cheung is attacked by some men. One of them grabs a small metal gas bottle and throws it at Cheung's chest. You see a shot of the guy throwing it, but then you only see the bottle already by the side of Cheung's body, who's screaming in pain, after the impact.

As I ruminate over the matter right now, this is my favorite film of the genre. The general consensus of this film's silliness does not discourage me. Horror is the most cinematic of cinema avenues, and this one works for me because it evokes a mood through atmosphere and sustains it.

Ostensibly we have a story about a mad doctor who steals female bodies and uses their individual parts to patch up a unified whole. The real patching up lies in what Franco does here in regard to elements from horror past. We have Morpho, who is a composite of creatures: a Frankenstein, a Dracula, the deformed Karloff monster from The Raven. And we have Orlof, who embodies a myriad of established characters, notably Doctor Gogol from Mad Love.

And it's all wrapped up in the atmosphere of such Univeral classics. The atmosphere drips. This is a wonderful film.

A gang of three murderers escape the police, terrorize a salesgirl in a roadside grocery store, then proceed to hide-out in a seemingly deserted farmhouse. They soon discover that a young girl, Lisa, and her paralyzed grandfather live there. The gang attempt some sleazy deeds, but Lisa shows how she can work an axe in self-defense.

Even though this movie is EXTREMELY low-budget and is only around 60 minutes long, it is still another example of how a low-budget can help a movie. The acting isn't always the best, but Leslie Lee is considerably creepy as Lisa the axe murderess. Filmed in North Carolina at a deserted farmhouse, the atmosphere is very isolated, like the farmhouse in NIGHT OF THE LIVING DEAD. The movie doesn't really go anywhere, but it is a classic of its own kind and the soundtrack should be enshrined on CD.
