Uncut and X rated for 1969 cinema release. This was not a success and the film was edited for an A rating. This cut version has been used for 2004 UK DVD bu the uncut version is set for 2024 Blu-ray.

Summary Notes

A British military paratrooper disappears in mid-air during a jump from an army plane. Two investigators, Patrick Allen and Neil Connery, try to unravel how this happened. What they uncover is an alien plot to steal the bodies of earthlings by snatching them out of the air.

UK: Uncut and BBFC 15 rated for infrequent strong nudity:

Promotional Material

When paratroopers begin to go missing during routine jumps, investigators are sent to shed some light on the mystery. However, things get complicated very quickly when an alien invasion plot is discovered. This little-known 60s British science fiction flick from the Tigon, the company that bought us Witchfinder General, The Sorcerers, and Blood on Satan's Claw, offers a uniquely UK take on the flying saucer phenomenon. Featuring George Sanders (Village of the Damned) and Maurice Evans (The Planet of the Apes), it's a must for all collectors of cult classics from good old uncanny Britannia.

During the latter half of 1888, a notorious serial killer nicknamed Jack the Ripper terrorises the East End of London by murdering prostitutes in a terribly violent way. Public outrage follows. Chief Inspector Frederick Abberline is assigned to the case but finds that it is not just a simple murder enquiry. Based on a real life event, this film claims to have had access to top secret Home Office files and believe that their ending is the correct solution to the age old mystery.

UK: BBFC 15 rated:

Promotional Material

Michael Caine heads a star-studded cast in this acclaimed, Emmy and Golden Globe-winning dramatisation of the hunt for the notorious serial killer who preyed on the prostitutes of London's East End.

Made for the 1988 centenary of these infamous murders, the production team were granted unprecedented access to Home Office files on the Ripper case -- the resulting two-part miniseries winning Caine a Golden Globe award for his portrayal of the dogged Scotland Yard detective Frederick Abberline. Jack the Ripper is presented here as a High Definition restoration from original film materials, in its original aspect ratio.

In the autumn of 1888, Chief Inspector Abberline is sent to investigate the murder and mutilation of a prostitute. Others soon meet the same fate, and a press frenzy ensues. With "Jack the Ripper" terrorising London and both police and outraged public clamouring for a swift conclusion, Abberline and his partner, Godley, work doggedly through their list of suspects -- more than one of whom has royal connections.

Experience the golden age of burlesque in this titillating triple feature of 1950s grindhouse classics, newly restored from the original negatives. Pinup goddess Bettie Page shares the screen with striptease legend Tempest Storm in the holy grails of full-color burlesque films: Varietease (1954) and Teaserama (1955). Directed by girlie-pix impresario Irving Klaw, the dance card includes performances by strip queens Lili St. Cyr, tantalizing Trudy Wayne, and "female impersonator" Vickie Lynn, interspersed with obligatory appearances by baggy-pants comics and sunny songsters. Concluding the trilogy is Klaw's Buxom Beautease (1956), which incorporates the short color film Striptease Revealed, and features incendiary performances by Blaze Starr and Dorian Dennis. Working in collaboration with Something Weird, the Sonney Amusement Enterprises Film Collection, and the UCLA Film & Television Archive, Kino Lorber has performed meticulous 4K restorations of these essential films, introducing them to a new generation of burlesque aficionados.

Summary Notes

US: Uncut and MPAA R rated for:

Promotional Material

From the imagination of Oscar-winning director Guillermo del Toro ( Pan's Labyrinth , The Shape of Water ) comes Crimson Peak , a lavish, stunningly realized journey into the dark heart of Gothic romance...

Beginning in Buffalo, New York, during the 1880s, Crimson Peak stars Mia Wasikowska ( Alice in Wonderland , Stoker ) as Edith Cushing, an aspiring writer who is haunted by the death of her mother. Edith falls in love with seductive stranger Thomas Sharpe (Tom Hiddleston, The Avengers ), who whisks her off to Allerdale Hall, his baronial, yet dilapidated English mansion built upon a mountain of blood-red clay. Here Edith meets Lucille (Jessica Chastain, Zero Dark Thirty ), Thomas's sister who at times seems hostile and jealous. As Edith struggles to feel at home in the imposing residence, she gradually uncovers a horrendous family secret and encounters supernatural forces that will help her discover the terrible truth behind Crimson Peak.

Boasting incredibly intricate and ornate production design and a rich visual style, del Toro's film is a grandiose, boldly baroque triumph of Gothic decadence, which expertly combines and contrasts the sublimely beautiful with the shockingly grotesque. Crimson Peak is presented here in sumptuous special packaging, with a wealth of extra features, affording unprecedented insight into the making of this modern Gothic classic.

Soldier Blue is a 1970 USA western by Ralph Nelson.
Starring Candice Bergen, Peter Strauss and Donald Pleasence. Melon Farmers link  BBFC link 2020   IMDb

Reportedly cut in the US for an MPAA rating in 1970. These cuts have long since been forgotten and the R rated version is the best available. The film was cut for an MPAA PG rating in 1974 but the R rating was restored in 1976.

The R rated version was cut by the BBFC for X rated cinema release and 18 rated VHS. The BBFC cuts for sexual violence were waived in 2004 for 18 rated DVD releases but new cuts were required for horse falls. In 2024 further BBFC cuts were required for previously unnoticed indecent images of a child.

Summary Notes

After a cavalry group is massacred by the Cheyenne, only two survivors remain: Honus, a naive private devoted to his duty, and Cresta, a young woman who had lived with the Cheyenne two years and whose sympathies lie more with them than with the US government. Together, they must try to reach the cavalry's main base camp. As they travel onward, Honus is torn between his growing affection for Cresta, and his disgust for her anti-American beliefs. They reach the cavalry campsite on the eve of an attack on a Cheyenne village, where Honus will learn which side has really been telling him the truth.

Controversial upon its release, Ralph Nelson's Soldier Blue follows Honus (Peter Strauss) and Cresta (Candice Bergen), the only remaining survivors of a Cheyenne Native American attack, as they travel across the unforgiving wilderness of the American frontier in search of refuge. Their journey reaches a tragic climax as they witness the brutal and cold-blooded slaughter of the Cheyenne tribe at the hands of the U.S. army. Reflecting the political climate of the time, Soldier Blue is uncompromising in its anti-war stance and in its extremely graphic depiction of the 1864 Sand Creek Massacre. By shedding light on America's dark history and the inhumane actions of the U.S. army, this revisionist western is one of the most radical films in American cinema's history.

Prolific Italian director Joe D'Amato is back in the softcore zone with a sordid tale about Gerard (Gabriele Tinti) who pines for his dead lover, Leonora (Andrea Guzon) whilst listening to old audio tapes of them having sex sparking memories of their erotic encounters. Back in the present his daughter, who is the mirror image of her mother finds the tapes which leads to questionable trysts and sordid couplings. With plenty of exposed flesh and the bonus of starring Laura "Emmanuelle" Gemser this is one of D'Amato's most stylish and accomplished bump and grind efforts. Fans of Tinto Brass will want to get their hands on this one.
