From the studio that brought you ZOMBIE LAKE and PANTHER SQUAD and the director of FEMALE VAMPIRE and BARBED WIRE DOLLS, comes Jess Franco's NIGHT OF THE EAGLES, a stark WWII drama starring iconic genre actors Christopher Lee (HORROR OF DRACULA, THE BLOODY JUDGE) and Mark Hamill (STAR WARS). Lee plays Strauss, a wealthy German businessman whose comely, loving daughter Lillian (Alexandra Ehrlich) is torn between two lovers, Peter (Hamill) and Karl (Ramon Estevez, brother of Charlie Sheen). Unable to choose between her paramours, Lillian's life changes forever when her beaus are shipped off to fight on the frontlines and she is forced to take a job as dancehall singer in a sordid nightclub. With her country and its people torn to pieces by the ravages of war and her once prosperous father relegated to poverty and despair, Lillian must make unthinkable choices in the name of survival.

A sober, sophisticated and far less exploitative latter-day offering from Franco, NIGHT OF THE EAGLES (also released as FALL OF THE EAGLES and WAR SONG) is one of Eurocine's most ambitious pictures, made shortly after the studio's perverse 1988 Franco masterpiece FACELESS, and boasts handsome production design, authentic costumes, bloody battles and a magnetic supporting performance by Lee as a man who helplessly watches as his dreams unravel. Full Moon is proud to present this underrated, unique Franco film on Blu-ray for the first time in America, totally uncut and remastered from the original 35mm camera negative.

    UNCUT & REMASTERED

    Her Prison Was Hell!

The Lost Eurocine Sexploitation Classic! Uncut and Remastered! From the studio that brought you OASIS OF THE LOST GIRLS and ZOMBIE LAKE and the director of THE INVISIBLE DEAD and PANTHER SQUAD comes the ultra-obscure, wildly sleazy shocker HOUSE OF CRUEL DOLLS, perhaps the most messed up movie in the vast Eurocine library! Also released as THE HOUSE OF LOST DOLLS (among many other international titles), Pierre Chevalier's outrageously vulgar melodrama is a horny hybrid of existing European exploitation films spliced together with new footage to tell the tale of Yvette (Magda Mundari) who, after being liberated from a life of sex slavery in the titular barbaric bordello, tells her sordid story in flashback. Jack Taylor (Jess Franco's FEMALE VAMPIRE and SUCCUBUS) also stars as an intrepid secret agent (in footage shoehorned in from the '60s spy thriller AGENTE SIGMA 3: MISSION GOLDWATHER) while sexploitation starlets Silvia Solar (CANNIBAL TERROR) and Sandra Jullien (Jean Rollin's SHIVER OF THE VAMPIRES) also show up to the patchwork party. Filled to the freak-out point with nudity, violence and all-around bad behavior, HOUSE OF CRUEL DOLLS is one of the most shameless, mind-melting films ever assembled, available now from Full Moon for the first time in North America, fully uncut and remastered from the original negative. Come and hang out with the cruel dolls...you'll never be the same again!

Housed in mouldy portacabins, tensions soon simmer between the men and the self-entitled aristocratic homeowner, as well as amongst the rag tag group of men themselves. World-weary old timer Dave and kindly Foreman Bob try to keep the peace. But his nephew Steve falls under the malign influence of bigot Jim, the pair taking a dislike to Viktor, a Ukranian labourer. As the weather closes in and payments are late, tempers fray. Blood is spilled. As the blue-collar men are confronted with an increasingly dark spiral of moral choices, Jim makes an astonishing proposition.

In a 1973 film that bares many similarities to Bruce Lee's debut film The Big Boss, The Awaken Punch's Henry Yu Yang plays an altruistic fighter who begins to build a name for himself as he violently cleans up a town from within its more seedier elements. But when he must abide by a promise to his dying father to give up his fighting ways, he will be faced with a new challenge in the arrival of the knife-throwing master Tien Feng (Fist of Fury) and his gang. With action from the legendary Yuen Woo-Ping (Matrix, Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon) and a cameo from a young Jackie Chan and others, this basher is the epitome of the Punch and Block violence that began a long trend within Martial Arts cinema. USA aka title: Fury of the Black Belt.

The Prodigal Boxer (1972) is an early take on the legend of martial artist Fong Sai-Yuk (later to be portrayed by the likes of Jet Li and Alexander Fu-Sheng), here played by Mang Fei. Once Fong Inadvertently kills a student of the rival school run by Iron Hand Tan (Kurata Yasuaki), this action leads to a series of near death confrontations between the men concluding in a tournament battle of the ages. Choreographed by Shaw Brothers' Lau Kar-Wing (the brother of the great Gordon Liu and Lau Kar-Leung) this film represents the brawling style of the time as well as the genesis of the more stylistic Shapes trend of martial arts action that would soon follow.

Bonus features include: Essays on the Basher genre within Kung Fu Cinema History, Audio Commentary on The Prodigal Boxer with actor/director Michael Worth and Clones Cast/Cinema Bushido host Matthew Whittaker, Creative Chaos: The Basher Genre: an interview with Michael Worth and Action Choreographer John Kreng, Original Theatrical Trailers to both films

The kids of Third Year Class-B Shiroiwa Junior High School are back, in a brand new 4K restoration of the classic cult shocker adapted from the controversial novel by Koushun Takami.

Presenting an alternate dystopian vision of turn-of-the-millennium Japan, Battle Royale follows the 42 junior high school students selected to take part in the government's annual Battle Royale programme, established as an extreme method of addressing concerns about juvenile delinquency. Dispatched to a remote island, they are each given individual weapons (ranging from Uzis and machetes to pan lids and binoculars), food and water, and the order to go out and kill one other. Every player is fitted with an explosive collar around their neck, imposing a strict three-day time limit on the deadly games in which there can only be one survivor. Overseeing the carnage is 'Beat' Takeshi Kitano ( Sonatine , Hana-bi , Zatoichi ) as the teacher pushed to the edge by his unruly charges.

Playing like a turbo-charged hybrid of Lord of the Flies and The Most Dangerous Game , the final completed work by veteran yakuza film director Kinji Fukasaku ( Battles without Honor and Humanity , Graveyard of Honor ) helped launch a new wave of appreciation for Asian cinema in the 21st century. Also included in the set is the incendiary sequel Battle Royale II , the directing debut of Kenta Fukasaku (after his father passed away during production), in which a new class of delinquents are recruited by the government to hunt down the survivor of the deadly games of the first film.

Father Peter was still the young apprentice to the renowned exorcist Father Louis when they embarked on a particularly challenging exorcism in the city of Baltimore in 1995 - the same day as the visit of Pope John Paul II. During the exorcism of the possessed boy, Nicholas, the demon proved too powerful and ultimately killed Father Louis, forcing the inexperienced Father Peter to step in. Father Peter was no match for the powerful demon, who first killed Nicholas, causing his entire body to erupt in flames...and then the demon left Nicholas, and entered Father Peter.

Years later, there has been a drastic increase in possessions/evil popping up around the country. Father Peter, who went on to become one of the world's most prominent exorcists (a la Father Gary Thomas/Malachai Martin), is now in his 50's and serving the church in a new capacity - he's overseeing young priest recruits in the last step of their on-the-job training as exorcists, before they are stationed in different diocese around the country to stand on the frontlines and protect that region from evil - or so the church thinks. In fact, Father Peter is a perfectly possessed demon, using his dark powers of persuasion to convince the priests to let the devil in, and then go off and spread evil, not cure it. As a result, there's a growing army of possessed priests out there, soldiers of the devil, demons hiding in plain sight, just waiting for the call to attack.

27-year-old Father Daniel Garcia, Father Peter's latest trainee/victim, volunteered to be an exorcist because he desperately wanted to be part of the fight against this rapidly spreading, insidious evil...even if he's scared out of his wits. He's no born warrior, but it's through the trials and tribulations of his first day of on-the-job training with Father Peter that Daniel learns his true mettle as a defender of good.

Haunted by night terrors, childless and unable to get pregnant, Lume is relentlessly pressured by Remzije to fulfill her wifely duties -- if Lume cannot produce a child, her mother-in-law threatens, it will be Remzije's responsibility to bring in a younger and more eager prospective wife for her son to consider. Bowing under the pressure of being replaced, Lume concedes to abandon modern medicine and seek the help of witch doctors and mystic healers to treat her infertility. Lume's appointments, first to a local witch doctor and then to a famed (and costly) televangelist-healer, do seem to yield results as Lume finds herself pregnant at last. But while the family celebrates, Lume's long-suppressed traumas from the war slowly rise to torment her again, convincing Remzije and Ilir that Lume is possessed by evil spirits, and extreme caution must be taken to protect the unborn child.

    Previous BBFC cuts from 2006

    See article from animenewsnetwork.com

The BBFC requested the compulsory cut to the eighth part of Paranoia Agent, called Happy Family Planning. This a mostly self-contained story, a macabre black comedy. The story involves three people who meet online, intending to kill themselves together. Two of the trio are adult men, but they're shocked to realise the third person is a preteen girl, who seems to regard suicide as a game.

In one scene, the three characters try to hang themselves in the mountain. In the unedited episode, the girl is shown bouncing happily up and down with the rope around her neck, chanting Swing! Swing! (finally, she breaks the tree branch, sending them all tumbling). However, this scene, lasting 80 seconds, was cut entirely from the UK DVD of the episode, following the ruling by the BBFC.

Responding to inquiries about the cut in the past, the BBFC has made its reasoning clear. Although the relevant DVD was rated 18, the BBFC still judged that the scene of a child enjoying being hanged was irresponsible and harmful, and that underage children could be influenced by the scene.

    Promotional Material

Hammer Volume Six: Night Shadows revives four consummate Hammer classics from the early sixties, exemplifying some of Hammer Films' best work in the horror and thriller genres. Edgar Allan Poe looms large in The Shadow of the Cat, a macabre 'old dark house' tale of feline revenge, starring Andr Morell (Cash on Demand) and Barbara Shelley (The Camp on Blood Island); Peter Cushing (The Gorgon, Corruption) and Oliver Reed (The Scarlet Blade) star in Captain Clegg, which sees Hammer fuse horror and adventure in an eighteenth-century-set tale of smugglers and marsh phantoms; Herbert Lom (Mysterious Island) stars as The Phantom of the Opera in Hammer's acclaimed production of Gaston Leroux's Gothic classic, whilst Freddie Francis (Torture Garden) directs Nightmare, a spooky psychological thriller in the Les Diaboliques vein, which benefits from full-blooded central performances by Moira Redmond (Jigsaw) and Jennie Linden (A Severed Head).

This collection contains a wealth of new and archival extra features, including documentaries and appreciations, interviews with actors and crew members, audio commentaries, and extensive booklets. Strictly limited to 6,000 numbered units.

The Shadow of the Cat (John Gilling, 1961). A house cat sees her mistress murdered by two servants under orders from her husband , and becomes ferociously bent on revenge.

Captain Clegg (Peter Graham Scott, 1962). When a captain arrives on an English coastal town to investigate reports of smuggling, he ends up with much more to deal with, including marsh phantoms and a suspicious vicar.

The Phantom of the Opera (Terence Fisher, 1962). Composer Lord Ambrose D'Arcy (Michael Gough) and his backer, Harry Hunter (Edward De Souza), struggle to find a replacement for the female lead in their new opera after she quits in the wake of a gruesome murder. When a new prospect, the nubile Christine Charles (Heather Sears), disappears, Harry cautiously investigates. Meanwhile, a mysterious masked man (Herbert Lom) who is eerily familiar with the opera holds Christine captive and offers to groom her to play the part.

Nightmare (Freddie Francis, 1964). Janet is a young student at a private school. Her nights are troubled by horrible dreams in which she sees her mother, who is in fact locked in a psychiatric hospital, haunting her. Expelled because of her persistent nightmares, Janet is sent home where the nightmares continue.
