School Shooter: North American Tour 2012 is an upcoming Source modification for Half-Life 2 developed by Checkerboarded Studios in association with METOKUR.
In something of a controversy wind up the game is described:
You play a disgruntled student, fed up with something (we're not exactly sure), and after researching multiple school shooting martyrs, he decides to become the best school shooter ever. You decide to arm yourself with the exact
same weapons as a previous school shooter such as; Eric Harris' TEC-9, Dylan's sawed-off shotgun, Seung-Hui Cho's akimbo pistols, Nevada-Tan's...box cutter? The possibilities are endless, you are free to do whatever you want. As long as it involves
shooting people.
Predictably US games nutter Jack Thompson has risen to the bait.
Presumably the creators of the mod game aren't likely to respond to pressure in the way that Thompson would want, so he has turned to the
host game Half-Life 2 and its online environment Valve.
Thompson has written to Valve boss Gabe Newell, who previously ran the company that created Half-Life 2 in 2004:
Dear Mr. Newell:
You either know or should know that the more moral midgets who run Checkerboarded Studios have created a mod for your company's Half-Life which they call School Shooter: North American Tour 2012. This mod is a full-blown Columbine
massacre simulator which cannot function without your company's assistance and acquiescence.

Given the fact that your company has the technological ability to stop the operation
of School Shooter, you must undertake steps immediately to do so.
Speaking for myself alone (for now), you have until five o'clock pm Eastern standard time this Friday, March 18, 2011, to shut down this public safety
hazard I predicted years ago this school massacre game would arrive. I hate being right all the time.
Mod hosting site ModDB has succumbed to pressure from outside sources and has removed the Half-Life 2 mod, School Shooter: North American Tour 2012 , from its database.
In an open letter to its community, ModDB founder Scott
Reismanis said that the site pulled the mod down after getting quite a bit of mainstream press due to the controversial nature of the content. He went on to say that he got a lot of threatening mail from various sources and the authors of that
mail believed that ModDB were the mod's creators.
Judge Dava Tunis has recommended the the anti-games nutter and lawyer Jack Thompson be permanently disbarred from the profession with no opportunity for reinstatement.
Judge Tunis also recommends an assessment of $43,675 for the costs incurred by
the Florida Bar in prosecuting his case.
Thompson was up in court on ethics charges brought by the Florida Bar.
Judge Tunis wrote:
The Florida Bar has recommended disbarment for a period of ten (10)
years. This Court respectfully declines to follow the Bar's recommendation... This case involves factual findings of cumulative misconduct, a repeated pattern of behavior relentlessly forced upon numerous unconnected individuals, a total lack of remorse
or even slight acknowledgement of inappropriate conduct...
Additionally, the Court is taking into consideration a review of the Respondent's conduct not only as proven by the evidence, but by what this Court has witnessed of the Respondent's
behavior throughout the eighteen (18) months of litigation. The undersigned finds no evidence whatsoever to indicate that the Respondent is amenable to rehabilitation, or even remotely appreciates the basis upon which a need or purpose for such
rehabilitation is warranted...
Over a very extended period of time involving a number of totally unrelated cases and individuals, the Respondent has demonstrated a pattern of conduct to strike out harshly, extensively, repeatedly and willfully to
simply try to bring as much difficulty, distraction and anguish to those he considers in opposition to his causes. He does not proceed within the guidelines of appropriate professional behavior, but rather uses other means available to intimidate,
harass, or bring public disrepute to those whom he perceives oppose him.
The judge who presided over Jack Thompson's Florida Bar trial late last year has recommended that the controversial attorney be found guilty on 27 of 31 professional misconduct charges. The Florida Supreme Court must now rule on those recommendations.
In a report issued last week, Judge Dava Tunis made 21 recommendations of guilt in relation to Thompson's participation in Strickland vs. Sony, an Alabama case in which the anti-game attorney represented the families of two police officers and a
police dispatcher slain by 18-year-old Grand Theft Auto player Devin Moore.
Tunis also recommended that Thompson be found guilty on four out of five counts relating to his 2006 attempt to have Rockstar's Bully declared a public nuisance in a case
before Miami Judge Ronald Friedman.
Among the Florida Bar offenses for which Judge Tunis has recommended a guilty verdict:
Knowingly making a false statement of material fact or law to a tribunal
Knowingly disobeying an obligation under the rules of a tribunal
Communicating the merits of the case with a judge before whom the proceeding is pending
Using means that have no purpose other than to embarrass, delay or burden a third person
Engaging in conduct involving dishonesty, fraud, deceit or misrepresentation
Engaging in conduct in connection with the practice of law that is
prejudicial to the administration of justice, including to knowingly or through callous indifference disparage or humiliate litigants or other lawyers
Making statements that the lawyer knows to be false or with reckless disregard as to the truth
or falsity concerning the qualifications or integrity of a judge
